“That was the summer of 1963 – when everybody called me Baby, and it didn’t occur to me to mind. That was before President Kennedy was shot, before the Beatles came, when I couldn’t wait to join the Peace Corps, and I thought I’d never find a guy as great as my dad. That was the summer we went to Kellerman’s.”
We’re so thrilled to publish this styled shoot inspired by the film Dirty Dancing! The movie was released in 1987, but is set in 1963 at a resort based on Grossinger’s in the New York Catskills.
It’s only one of the best romance movies of all time, so if you’ve never watched it, get on that immediately. But first, take time to revel in the beauty of this Dirty Dancing -inspired wedding photo sesh.

About The Styled Shoot:
From the photographer, Amanda Vick Creative: “Ever since I can remember, I’ve been obsessed with the movie Dirty Dancing. Last year, I had the idea to recreate the iconic water lift scene, so I started planning!
“It started off super simple. I really only wanted that one shot, but life kept happening, and the shoot quickly started to feel very forced.
“Months and months passed, and the idea came back to me. But this time, in typical Amanda fashion, I went big, not home, and planned an entire wedding around the idea.”

WE ASKED:
How challenging was it to recreate the iconic water shot?Amanda Vick Creative: We thought the water lift was going to be super difficult, but they nailed it! It only took the models two or three tries before they got it perfect!
The water shot is impressive, but we’re also ooooohing and ahhhing over all the gorgeous details worked into this themed wedding shoot!
The vintage touches, like the record and Polaroid camera, are a great way to add in some 1960s-meets-1987 flair without going over the top. This keeps the overall vibe modern and fresh. We can’t get enough!
