We are such a fan of small, intimate weddings for so many reasons. The most obvious benefit is that smaller weddings are more cost efficient than big events. But, we also love them because they are more laid back and allow the couple to focus on the details of the day that are most important to them. This Two Harbors wedding held at Larsmont Cottages on the shores of Lake Superior showcases an intimate wedding done right!
Bella and Matt’s love story begins at a Frank Turner concert. They bonded over coffee, furniture building, and their love of photography. Their wedding fell on an overcast June day up Lake Superior’s North Shore. Look at those clouds! Others may want for blue skies and sunshine, but we say bring the cloudy days on! They add so much drama!
A Personalized, Intimate Wedding Ceremony
Bella and Matt’s ceremony was uniquely them, injected with so much personality. With Lake Superior as the backdrop, a friend officiated the wedding. The bride and groom also got to be a part of a special blanket ceremony, conducted by Bella’s father, as a part of her heritage from the San Luis Rey Band of Payómkawichum tribe. In this ancient Native American tradition, the couple is wrapped in a blanket and then…they kiss!
Lake Superior Wedding Portraits
Bella and Matt both have a passion for photography, so getting the perfect wedding portraits were a top priority for the couple! After the Two Harbors wedding, the couple and their photographer ventured down to Duluth, taking pictures along the way. Duluth is a special place for the two: they spent much of their time there in the early stages of their relationship, and it’s where Matt proposed! We’re so happy they were able to incorporate this special Duluth visit into their big day!
