2020 has been a year, but we are so inspired by the wonderful couples who are making it work! We are so excited to share Alec & Delia’s Quad Cities engagement photo session here with y’all, along with their cute proposal story!

How They Met
According to Delia, “Alec and I have had somewhat of an unconventional journey to get to where we are now. I suppose in the digital age, it’s getting more common to find your significant other on a dating app like Tinder, but it still feels pretty weird to admit that to people. I swiped right for the freckles on his nose and now we’re researching the best price for wedding invitations.”

The Proposal
Delia describes, “I never thought Alec would be able to keep buying a ring and engagement plans a surprise from me. In March, I knew that engagement was on the horizon for us sometime soon, but I didn’t know exactly when.
“On March 16th, I was getting a little suspicious of Alec, who insisted we go on a date. We’re more of a take out and eat in front of the TV type of couple, so his persistence was odd. I ruined all of his plans by dragging my feet, insisting I was too tired to go out. Besides, Illinois had just closed restaurants due to COVID.
“So instead, we went grocery shopping. As we were unloading the groceries, I came into the kitchen to find Alec on his knee, surrounded by our groceries, still in the bags. He said he had been planning the proposal for weeks and couldn’t handle waiting another day.
“It was not quite the proposal either of us had been expecting, but oh my was I surprised! I actually had to sit down I was so shocked. My shock deepened when I found out Alec had told all of my friends and family his plans in the weeks prior, and everyone managed to keep the secret.”

Now, the couple faces the unique challenge of planning a wedding during a pandemic, but Delia says, “I wouldn’t want to be doing it with anyone else. On a surface level, we are total opposites. But on a deeper level, we are eerily similar. Alec firmly believes he can finish my sentences, and about 30% of the time he finishes them correctly.”
